Designing Ace

Ace was difficult to design as I couldn't have them look too similar to Star but my immediate route for a musician would have been to make them stylish.

I also couldn't use a prop to characterise them since that would be stolen and it wouldn't make sense to wear the guitar case while playing either.

I tried giving them a band shirt, headphones, braids, bandanas. Eventually, I stepped back and looked at what Ace would wear as a character, not just decorations that //musicians// wear.

Ace is a busker, they're kind of grungy and likes punk so doesn't buy trendy fashion, separating them from Star.

Lesson learned: character design is meant to communicate who a character is visually, and the absence of props and clothes can do storytelling too.
